Chilobrachys fimbriatus, commonly known as the Indian violet, is a species of spider of the genus Chilobrachys. It is endemic to tropical forest of Goa, India. The carapace is a work of art. The abdomen is a copper color with black stripes.
It is an old world tarantula with no urticating hair. This species of tarantula is nervous and defensive. The spider will try to flee at first. Persistent provocation can result in a bite. This species is more for the advanced keeper. Females had been recorded to live as long as 20 to 25 years while the male can live up to 5 years old.
This tarantula is known to create beautiful webs and a tunnel system, this prolific webber and will sometimes web the entire enclosure. At broad daylight she’ll stay deep inside her burrow, waiting for an unsuspecting prey at the entrance of her burrow at night. When older, you’ll see them more out in the open. Jjuvenile tend to burrow more than adults and should be given at least six inches (15.24cm) of substrate to burrow. Adults are more opportunistic.
